Negotiations are essential in everyday life. Whether you realize it or not, you engage in multiple negotiations every single day.
Mastering the art of negotiation in a business setting is a skill that will propel your professional success. During this session, we will cover how to recognize when a negotiation is the best method. We will differentiate between distributive and integrative negotiations in order to help you achieve the best possible “win-win” situation.
You will leave this session with an understanding of the 4 main concepts involved in negotiation.

About Al Hermann
Al Hermann is a Business Consultant with the University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center. Before assuming his current position he was an Assistant Professor of Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of Alaska Anchorage since 2009. During his seven years in Alaska he founded the Alaska Accelerator Fund, LLC. The Alaska Accelerator Fund was the first angel investor fund in Alaska to provide capital to start-up companies. He was also instrumental in helping to start numerous new businesses and was active in the development of Launch Alaska, which is a business accelerator that began operating in early 2016.
Prior to his academic career he worked in the private sector for 40 years. His extensive experience encompasses working at the senior management level with Fortune 500 companies and small privately help entities. While he was the Vice President of Finance for U.S. Operations at Lanier Worldwide he was responsible for closing twenty-six acquisitions and two divestitures over an eight-year period. As the CFO of four start-up ventures, spanning several industries he helped raise capital, both equity and debt and built the financial and operations infrastructures. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors for American Office Products, Global Tech Financial and McKinnon Marine, LLC.
Al received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Temple University and an MBA in finance from Drexel University.
