Startup & Small Business Legal Workshop: How to work with a Lawyer… by a Lawyer
March 15 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This event is for small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs. The goal is to explain how legal service and lawyers work. I am a business transactional attorney and the majority of the presentation will be focused on that area. However, some litigation topics and definitions will be covered if they overlap. I decided to organize this free workshop because I realized a lot of my beloved clients and prospective clients had never worked with a lawyer before and were pretty confused (and nervous) about reaching out to me.
The topics covered are:
1. Definitions and common documents (ex. what a Representation Agreement is)
2. Understanding fees (ex. retainers, fixed-fees, and billables)
4. What to expect (ex. communication, initial consultations, and what is it like working with a lawyer)
5. Tips for being a fantastic client
My timeline for the event is:
6:15-6:30 pm- Networking
6:30-7:30 pm- Presentation
7:30-7:45 pm- Questions (unfortunately, I cannot give legal advice or answer personal questions but I will answer questions on the topic presented)
The event will be at Common Desk in Deep Ellum. There are several $5.00 parking lots right around the facility. Metered street parking is pretty plentiful on Canton St. but I would give it 10 extra minutes to find parking.
I am keeping this event pretty small but if it fills up then please e-mail me at email@example.com and I will e-mail you when the next event is happening. Don’t worry, you will not be put on a spam list.
Please RSVP here so I know how many people to expect. If you have any questions or comments then please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to seeing you at the event!
